Generation record ↗A Soviet commune on Mars where breathable space is the shared wealth.
Soviet commune on Mars, generations past the founding expedition, where breathable space is collective wealth: shared gardens, kitchens and bathhouses over private rooms. Austere silent assembly courts, warm amber thresholds; a story of maintenance, not conquest, kept through gaskets, shared meals and patient repair.
Sheltered Martian crater with a broad, gently sloping buildable floor, a broken rim a few storeys high, routes between deposits and room for a communal square. Rust regolith, basalt outcrops for extraction, pale frost seams of buried ice; no water or vegetation; dusty peach light, violet distance.
Three eras: founders' regolith-buried pressure cabins with salvaged hatches; planned steel-cell terraces behind sulfur-concrete shielding, with earth vaults and sealed loggias; ribbed, barrel-roofed cooperatives with hopper drums and insulated pipe bridges. Civic halls spend scarce ceramic relief, red enamel and imported glass on shared space, while later curved nursery wings and tiled vestibules soften the discipline.
Small survival economy of water, food and materials: the Deep Ice Cooperative mines frost seams for water, the Harvest Exchange turns water into food and materials, and Common Hearth homes consume both and supply labour. Start with one Hearth, a few workers and a small stock; the goal is the House of the Shared Sky, a large-surplus civic build reachable without debug drops or stalls.

Cream instrument faces, charcoal lettering and oxblood enamel controls carry the commune’s repaired civic material palette into a calm working interface. Heavy uppercase headings echo public notices, while ordinary sentence-case body text and monospaced resource values support shared accounting. Square panels and shallow hard shadows recall assembled shielding plates; slight button rounding suggests durable physical switches. Amber warnings use explicit text and existing status icons, with visible focus outlines and dedicated selected colors so feedback never depends on hue alone. Spacious four-pixel rhythm makes the ordered system usable without turning it into a decorative prop. Revision 2 turns the whole panel into oxblood enamel, like a painted commune notice board: cream lettering and amber lamp accents sit on the red field, while charcoal controls read as stamped steel plates with deep hard shadows.
Shared placeholder icons · Compact civic pictograms with blunt silhouettes and squared internal cuts, like enamel equipment labels: droplet for water, grain head for food, sealed doorway for housing and a simple gear for production. Use consistent stroke weight, preserve familiar meanings and accessible labels, and reserve star or orbit imagery for city identity rather than routine actions.
72 BPM · dorian
A low Dorian work-song fragment moves from distant glass and air into warm organ harmony, measured bass and quiet metal pulses.
Widely spaced glass notes, a low sustained bass and hazy chords leave long gaps over a faint air texture; this is a musical impression of distance, not literal exterior sound.
A measured bass and restrained metal beat carry an organ chord response and low pulse melody, with every fourth bar opening into silence.
