Ice Cutter Brigade

Cuts nearby ice ribs into portable blocks for the water works.

A low first-camp barrel vault of basalt (#34383C) carries a big cutter frame projecting forward over the front: a heavy pressure-aluminum (#B5BAB7) arm ending in one broad wheel of a few large glacial-blue (#A9CFD9) teeth. A single angular aluminum gantry stands at one side. The vault runs front to back, its arched end facing the front, and its aluminum bands are hoops around it. In TOP the vault is longer from top to bottom (front to back) than it is wide, and its hoop bands run straight across it from left to right. The cutter arm runs across the front above the door, from the gantry post at the left end to the wheel at the right.

A signal-red (#C53F35) airlock door sits beneath the cutter arm. Two or three large mismatched salvaged aluminum plates patch the vault.

No sculpture: the cutter is the most forceful horizontal projection in the city.

Scale: longest ground side about 2.1 city tiles, with the main entrance on the front face.
